In fact, there are actually no white dots, but why do your eyes play this trick on you?
It has to do a lot with the way your eyes perceive images and process images.
In this lab, you will determine why the eyes play tricks on you in visual illusions.
THE EYE
The human eye in one of the most complex and understood structures of the brain.
In order to see, images come through the pupil and lens and reflect the image onto an area in the back of your eye called the retina. The retina is a small thin layer of cells that contain the main cells that help you recognize color and movement.
These cells turn on and off, depending on what you see. When you see the nice blue ocean, your eyes will activate the blue neurons and process blue to your brain.
So what happens to a blind man? Can they technically see? YES! They can. Even though blind people have lost their ability to sense vision, they actually still have the area of their brian that processes vision, and because it is still there, they can actually sense movement of light in laboratory experiments.
