Ever have a stuffy nose and you everything you ate tasted like cardboard?
That may have something to do with your nose!
The nose, just like your mouth, is responsible for one of the 5 essential senses - SMELL. But believe it or not, the nose is also super important for TASTE. In fact, the reason why we can taste different flavors actually has more to do with the nose than with the tongue.
TASTE
The tongue has many sections that are mainly responsible for taste. You'll realize that certain parts of your tongue tend to be more sensitive for a certain flavor than other parts. This has a lot to do with the neurons that connect with your taste buds.
The nose has olfactory bulbs, smell receptors that help recognize smells of the food that you eat. In fact, everything that you eat is made out of chemicals, and if that chemical can react with the nose's smell receptors, you can actually taste it better!
In this experiment, you will investigate how well your sensitivity to taste is with the help of your nose.
